Water Study

Water Study I
7 x 9
Watercolor

This was a fairly quick watercolor study.  I really enjoy painting water so I decided I would start doing water studies.  I will be doing them in both oils and watercolor.  For my first one, I thought I would limit my palette to focus on values.  I am excited to do some in color. Hopefully, you will watch me improve as I go :)  My husband says this one is best viewed from far away.  hmm.  I agree.
This particular water spot was in a hot spring near Salida, CO.

It's Spring!

I'm back and it's spring!  We just got back from Colorado to find the crocus busting out in our backyard!  I am ready for the change.  Now, apparently I need to take cover from a tornado.  I guess there are pros and cons to everything!

In Loving Memory

In Loving Memory of Donna Lee Brown

We knew her as Grandma Brown.  She was the most wonderful grandmother my husband could've asked for.  He was her only grandchild and she adored him!  She was generous, loving, kind and funny!  She also welcomed me as her own granddaughter. She never missed an opportunity to send a card, a nice letter, pictures or even a book of stamps.  Grandma Brown was simply one of the sweetest and gentle-spirited women I have ever known.  She passed away last night, but praise God that she is in a better place now.  She is home, where she can breathe easy and there is no more sickness or pain.

Then Jesus cried out, "When a man believes in me, he does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me. When he looks at me, he sees the one who sent me. I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.  John 12:44-46

Donna believed and she is now home.

A peek into my sketchbook

These are a few sketches from my idea book.  I still am considering making them into paintings but I have a few others that take priority right now.  Hopefully, I will get to paint them one day.  We'll see...  so many ideas... so little time!

Riley in Charcoal

Riley
11.5 x 13.5
Charcoal

Here is a simple sketch of my dog, Riley.  I loved the look on his face though.  It captures his impatience and obedience perfectly.  He wasn't really in the mood to have his photo taken, but he politely obliged.

Framed Watercolors

Boys on the Lake
5 x 7
Watercolor

In the Sun
5 x 7
Watercolor

This gives you an idea of what my watercolors look like framed.  My mom (a professional framer) did a great job framing them for me!  I will be posting them on etsy in the next couple days.  I am hoping to add a lot more work to my etsy store in the next few weeks.  It needs a little makeover and I have lots of ideas!  I just need to put them into action!
